Interiors Inspiration: Modern Take on a Traditional Tudor

I recently ran across this stunning design project by LA-based designer Betsy Burnham of Burnham Design. Come to find out! It has been featured in this month's (June 2012) issue of House Beautiful, and rightfully so... The part of this design that speaks out to me the most is the creative mix of colored components perfectly balanced with each room's neutral backdrop. The clean lines and neutral palettes on the walls and surfaces set the stage for the rich colors brought in with Moroccan rugs, bold garden stools & abstract art (... to name a few). Who would have thought this traditional Beverly Hills Tudor home could portray such a global vibe yet make you feel right at home. Well done, Betsy! Now let explore this beauty...

Halls - Even the common halls do not lack a single detail, the "Moroccan"
rugs complimented with ornate, bold fabric starts the theme that flows
through the entire house.

Living Room - Offering two (separate yet together) seating areas, the
Back-to-Back Sofas are the quintessential part of this magnificent
Living Room arrangement. Using several different hues of purple & mauve
with grey accents, makes this room pop against the neutral white walls
and coffered ceiling.

Kitchen - This home is filled with intricately planned out built-in
spaces. As very key elements to the home, these built-ins, from the
Butler's Pantry to the Bar Area, provide TONS of practical storage.
And how fun are these colors?
Family Room - Adorned with Phillip Jeffries Grasscloth wallcovering,
this Family Room has every bit of casual sophistication.

Master Suite - First off, who wouldn't want to have an entire wall of built-in
storage/closet space in their Master Bedroom? This Master Suite is
both formal yet inviting with the use of natural linens and a soft
color palette. (Also, Check out the arched ceiling in the Bathroom!)

Girl's Bedroom - One of my favorite rooms of the home, the bordered
draperies against the large-scale printed wallpaper makes the
windows pop against the walls. Again, the use of Purple and Mauve
add the perfect complimentary accent.
