Portland-Based Interior Design Firm Is Giving Back
GHID is teaming up with Patrick Richardson of Murrayhill Remodeling for our 3rd year of Serving Up Style (SUS). If you haven't heard of SUS before, it is an annual fundraising event for Molly's Fund Fighting Lupus, where over 20 design teams come together to donate materials and time to this inspiring non-profit. The GHID team is ramping up for this years booth that is themed, COLORrbomb, but before we dive into design details, I want to tell you a little more about this wonderful non-profit.
Local Non-Profits - Molly's Fund Fighting Lupus
It is our mission at Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus to educate the public about lupus, partner with the medical community to push for earlier, life-saving diagnosis, and to spur governments and foundations to fund research toward a cure.
Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus is a non-profit foundation that is changing the way the medical community, pharmaceutical companies, those impacted by lupus, and the general public understand the disease, its diagnosis and its treatment. We want those afflicted by lupus to know that they are not alone, we are here to support them and we are dedicated to making a difference.
We want our efforts to help those impacted by lupus feel better supported and understood. Our outreach, education, marketing and advocacy strategies are designed to assist people with lupus to seek help and receive early diagnosis and treatment. Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus wants to see the mortality rate for the disease decrease.
Our Outreach and Advocacy
We are dedicated to the continual outreach and advocacy on behalf of those with lupus, beginning with partnering with those in the medical community, doctors, hospitals, and the insurance industry. We want to attract public and political support for more research dollars in the fight against lupus, which will lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatments and medicines, and ultimately, a cure.
Each year we take a portion of the dollars raised to create awareness campaigns in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Individuals with lupus who are willing to share are highlighted with their brave stories of hope and challenge.
Our Grant Making and Fundraising Efforts
The dollars we raise are dedicated to education, awareness, client assistance and research. Our Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus grant making program is focused on:
- Early diagnosis and treatment of the disease
- Research and innovation
- Awareness building and advocacy for lupus
- Impacts of lupus
Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus gives 90% of the dollars raised to outreach and support programs. Foundation fundraising has increased 100% over the last four years and Molly’s Fund have aligned with major corporations, individuals, and foundations who now are joining the fight, by both giving funds and participating in outreach and support efforts.
Two of our largest fundraising events, Butterflies In the Park and Serving Up Style, help us raise awareness of lupus, as well as raise funds to continue our mission and vision for earlier diagnosis, support and advocacy on behalf of those with lupus. These events also fund our client assistance program. More than 20,000 people in the Portland area attend these events over the course of each year.
