Hailey is stopping by our blog today to tell you all about a Hullinger Home local artist we will be carrying! Did you happen to notice that Hullinger Home is our new store name?! We hope you love it as much as we do. :) Hi everyone! I met a lovely and talented lady yesterday afternoon, named Bobbie Specker. She retired from a job in fashion design and found herself creating ceramics for a hobby in her retirement. She and her husband Don live in the bustling NW 23rd neighborhood in a wonderful historic home, turned condo. I was thrilled to pull up to her home and finally go into one of those beautiful houses! Bobbie greeted me at the top of the big open stairway, darling and welcoming as could be.
We shared a delightful pot of tea, on the sun-porch turned artist studio, while she told me about herself, her products and how she creates these beauties. Meanwhile, I snapped pictures and shopped for pottery!
All of Bobbie’s pieces are hand-made, and unique. The sometimes uneven shape is very charming! She rolls out the clay by hand with a rolling pin and uses her patterns to cut the clay, much like a fashion design would. The cutouts are then pieced together to build her creations. (process shots)
Many of her ceramics are vases, others are cups or bowls, all of them are water-tight and food safe. Wouldn’t you love to serve your best friend a yummy espresso using this darling set? ($120)
The color palette in her stripes collection is so cheerful! ($70 each)
I had so many favorites, there was no trouble picking out several pieces for the shop! These little vases seem like something that should be in every home. You don’t have to be a florist to drop in a sweet little bloom or stem of foliage and it will look adorable on your windowsill! (Prices range from $28-$32)
I hope you’ll come see the rest of my favorite pieces from Bobbie’s collection in the shop tomorrow!!
