Open Dining Floor Plans for Holiday Feasts

The holiday season is upon us, which means family feasts and parties with friends! When hosting these events for family and friends, having an open floor plan for the dining room and kitchen makes for a much better entertaining experience. GHID homes are almost always designed this way, so that a host preparing food in the kitchen does not have to take themselves away from the festivities while getting everything ready. It is never fun when the host disappears to get food ready, so maybe these interiors will inspire you to remodel your home kitchen area!

Even smaller homes can feature an open kitchen and dining area. This long area in our Seahound Ranch project connects the kitchen to the dining room via a seating area in the middle. Guests can sit on the three stools next to the kitchen at smaller gatherings, and at family dinners the host is still in sight of anyone seated in the dining room.

This kitchen space is compact but leaves plenty of room for entertaning. The massive island features four seats for guests, ensuring that you can be social while preparing food. In addition to keeping you in the mix, it keeps other people out of your way! This kitchen may seem backed into a corner, but the huge island makes for a great entertainment hub.

This design may seem similar to the last one, but that's because it is a tried and true method! Much like the previous design shown, this kitchen promotes socialization while preparing food, by placing four comfortable stools around the huge island. This lets guests stay out of the way while allowing you to be in the conversation, and you can even serve up food on the island for everyone. The wide open space in this kitchen allows for easy access to the dining table from the food prepartion areas.

Like the kitchens shown before it, this kitchen features an island with bar stools, ideal for entertainment while preparing food! This kitchen space wraps around the island so that the host is never far from the action. Nice wide open spaces leaves easy access to the dining room when it comes time for dinner!

This impressive kitchen is versatile and great for family dinners. A dining area is visible from the kitchen, making you a part of the party. This is a wide open space that makes use of contrast and brightness to make it seem even larger, while the additional island between the kitchen and the dining area is on feet instead of attached to the ground, making it seem like less of an obstacle between the kitchen and dining table.
