Danish Luxe Revival

Stress builds when building a home or going through a large remodel. So many choices to make and wanting to make the right decisions can add even more stress. The family (of four) was building their new home and framing had begun when they called upon GHID...we needed to help them take their ideas and formulate a cohesive but fresh look on this space. Both wife and husband knew what they like and disliked...but pulling it all together was going to be our task. We listened and looked through many inspiration photos before sitting back and coming up with a plan. The plan was try and create a space that didn't allow the materials to date the space but yet allow the family and their collections to be the life of the home. Giving the home a monochromatic palette allowed us to inject color into the home's furnishings...and at the same time select materials and surfaces that could withstand the daily life of the two boys and their parents. The staircase is the main artery of the home and from there the floor plan pushes you into the public space of the home. A warm tone of hand-scraped wood floor lays the foundation of the rooms while the field stone and many other natural stones give the home it's authenticity and stature.
