This 3400 square foot family home in a suburb of Portland was built for a family of four. The challenge was creating a great room open to a large kitchen and dining room to fulfill the client’s desire for a truly luxurious home while making it functional and comfortable for the couple and their two teenage sons in under 4000 square feet. We accomplished this by creating a small second floor for the boys’ bedrooms, with a hallway that is open to the entryway below to tie it in with the first floor.  We love a challenge at GHID, and this home proves that with careful planning, your wish list doesn’t have to get shorter with a smaller square footage.
